Congratulations CST Club!

Great job, Comfortably Speaking Toastmasters for achieving the President's Distinguished Award (highest distinction/award)!!

Here's how we did it!

Thank you to the following club members who made it happen:
  • Kyla Werrett: CC Award
  • Euna Son: CC Award
  • Raf Qutub: ACB Award
  • Odecca: ACB Award
  • Supriya: CL Award
  • Odecca: ALB Award
  • All 26 new members who joined from July 2013-June 2014
  • All executive officers (Odecca, Raf, Euna, Kyla, Jinky, Jason, Nadia, and Connie) who were trained
  • Euna, out Treasurer, who submitted the membership renewals on time
  • Nikita who submitted the list of officers on time
CST's outgoing officers also would like to extend its deepest gratitude to Toastmasters Jocelyn Vezina (DTM) and Nikita Pchelin (ALB, ACB) who were always very supportive and helpful to the club. A big thank you to Toastmaster Kathleen Wong (DTM) who presented an evaluation workshop to all the new members.

Special thanks to Toastmasters Jocelyn, Nikita, Kathleen, and Supriya who helped me behind the scene and guided me all the way, You made me strong because of your guidance. You gave so much energy and you added so much value to the club.

Lastly, I would like to acknowledge the great efforts of Toastmasters Raf and Euna for all the sacrifices that they had given to the club! Your time and efforts meant a lot to the club (FYI, they tried so hard to finish their speeches for the sake of our club's goals before June 30th. And yes, they made it to the TOP!). I also would like to share with you some "cute" moments that happened with Raf. Raf was unable to make it initially because of his responsibilities at home and work. But with Nadia's help (for those who do not know Nadia, she is our VP of PR and also a member of our club but she had to be away for a moment because of their newly-born beautiful Jineen), she encouraged Raf to finish his award! Nadia helped Raf to research Raf's topics. I highly appreciate both of your efforts, Raf and Nadia!

To everyone, we are so lucky that the next officers are too eager to make our club better and more amazing! Please continue to support the club by regularly attending to the meeting, participating in the club's Distinguished Club Program, and taking some roles to enhance your communication and leadership skills.

Good luck to the next team!

Sincerely,
Odecca Ordonez

If you are interested in becoming part of the next executive team from July 2014-June 2015, here are the roles that are available:
    • President: As president, it’s your responsibility to provide leadership for the club whenever it’s required. This includes creating a nurturing learning environment and enhancing club quality by conducting well-run, energetic, interesting meetings; actively seeking and connecting with club members and officers; listening patiently and offering assistance; and resolving conflicts as they arise.
    • VP of Ed: As vice president education, you schedule members’ speeches and projects and serve as a resource for questions about education awards, speech contests, and the mentor program.
    • VP of Membership:  You promote the club and manage the process of bringing in guests and transforming them into members
    • VP of PR:  You publicize the club to the outside world and are in charge of notifying the public about the club’s existence and benefits it provides. • Secretary:  You maintain all club records, manage club files, handle club correspondence, and take the minutes at each club and executive committee meeting. You are also in charge of updating and distributing a roster of the current paid membership, and keeping the club officer list current at World Headquarters

You arrive early to prepare the meeting place for members, and you stay late to stow all of the club’s equipment. Open House Event

The Comfortably Speaking Toastmasters Club held a semi annual open house at the Mississauga Central Library early in February. Presented as a regular meeting, the open house demonstrated the activities and opportunities to learn provided by the club. Members conducted the meeting, introduced speakers, provided information, gave speeches, prepared and presented speech evaluations and mingled with guests. Guests included two Area Governors, who both spoke at the meeting, and a Distinguished Toast Master (DTM), the highest level in Toastmasters. The DTM's speech illustrated the effectiveness of Toastmaster training. The club meets at the library the first and third Saturday each month. Guests are always welcome!
